Job purpose

The Onboarding Accounting Manager leads the seamless integration of new clients into our accounting systems and workflows, ensuring an efficient and confident transition. This role establishes the foundation for long-term success by aligning services with each client’s unique needs from day one. Serving as a strategic advisor and fractional CFO, the Onboarding Accounting Manager builds trusted relationships, delivers expert accounting guidance, and designs scalable processes that drive client growth, compliance, and profitability. The role’s ultimate objective is to position clients for sustained success within our service model.

Duties and responsibilities

As a BELAY Manager, you will professionally represent the company in all virtual and in-person interactions. You are expected to exemplify our mission, vision, and core values daily, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.

Client Relationship Management

  • Lead and facilitate CFO-level client meetings with professionalism, insight, and strategic focus.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by delivering proactive solutions and implementing timely course corrections.
  • Monitor and optimize client profitability to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand services that drive client growth.
  • Partner cross-functionally to address client needs through clear, timely, and effective communication.
  • Simplify complex financial concepts to build trust and confidence with clients.

Technical & Operational Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles, compliance requirements, and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Design and implement scalable processes that ensure smooth client onboarding.
  • Manage system integrations, data migration, and workflow setup to establish operational readiness.

Onboarding Management

  • Lead multiple onboarding engagements simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
  • Apply change management practices to guide clients and teams through new systems and processes.
  • Anticipate risks and implement solutions to keep onboarding projects on track.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, coach, and mentor direct reports to accelerate their growth and performance.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively to Senior Accountants and Staff, ensuring accountability and efficiency.
  • Deliver timely, actionable feedback and lead performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture that reinforces and advances the firm’s overall culture.

Qualifications

This role requires a motivated and trustworthy self-starter with strong communication and technological skills who thrives both independently and on a team. Our ideal corporate team member is flexible, creative, well-organized and ready to roll up their sleeves to get the job done!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
  • 6–8 years in accounting or financial management
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Proficient in financial close and cloud-based systems (QBO, Amazon, Shopify, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills
  • Strategic, client-focused mindset with small business acumen

Working conditions

BELAY offers full-time remote work, requiring a dedicated, distraction-free home office for standard Monday-Friday business hours, with occasional travel for some roles.
